Five memory techniques that hold up under exam pressure

Build a story, not a list
Isolated facts decay. Facts linked into a chain of cause and effect stick, because remembering one pulls the next one with it. When you meet a list — stages, causes, reactions — write the reason each item leads to the next before you try to memorise the order.
Use images that are slightly ridiculous
Vivid, strange imagery outperforms neutral repetition. That is the whole engine behind memory palaces: your brain files unusual pictures far better than abstract words. Assign a room, a route or an object to each stage of a process.
Say it out loud, in your own words
Explaining a concept aloud forces you to notice the joins you cannot yet make. If a sentence comes out vague, that is not a wording problem — it is the topic you should revise next.
Sleep on it
Consolidation happens overnight. A session finished at a sensible hour and reviewed the next morning beats the same hours spent awake at 2am, and the difference shows up most on the material you found hardest.
Test, don't reread
Every serious list of memory techniques ends here. Self-testing is what converts short-term familiarity into something you can produce in an exam hall.
None of these require an app. They require you to do something to the material rather than move your eyes across it.
