Privacy Policy

BI TECHNOLOGY LIMITED (company number 17399285) is the data controller for studypie.co.uk and the StudyPie study workspace. Privacy questions go to legal@bitechnology.co.uk.

• Account data: email address, display name and avatar choice. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email, name and profile picture from Google — never your Google password.
• Study content: the notes, PDFs, audio, video links and prompts you submit, plus the study packs, flashcards, practice tests and tutor conversations generated from them.
• Usage data: which features you run and how many, so we can apply plan allowances and show your streaks, stats and achievements.
• Billing data: plan, subscription status and invoice history. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout and are never seen or stored by us.
• Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and error diagnostics, kept for security and debugging.

• To provide the service — generating packs, decks, tests, exports and tutor replies (performance of our contract with you).
• To take payment, manage subscriptions and prevent chargebacks (contract and legal obligation).
• To keep the service secure, rate limit abuse and diagnose faults (legitimate interests).
• To send service emails such as receipts, trial reminders and important changes (contract). Marketing email is only sent with your consent and every message can be unsubscribed.
• Analytics is aggregated and set only with your consent.

Your content is never used to train any machine learning model, ours or a third party's, and we never sell personal data.

• Hosting and content delivery for the website and application (Vercel).
• Database, file storage and authentication, including Google sign-in (Supabase).
• AI inference for study packs, flashcards, practice tests, the tutor and the study tools (Google Gemini API; OpenAI where configured for transcription).
• Payments, subscriptions, invoices and the customer billing portal (Stripe).
• Transactional email delivery for receipts and account notices.

Each processor is bound by a data processing agreement. Where data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, transfers rely on adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your rows is enforced at the database level by row-level security, so one account can never read another's study material, and privileged server access is limited to what is needed to run the service. The site is served with a strict content security policy, HSTS and secure, same-site session cookies.

• Study content is kept until you delete it or close your account.
• When you close your account, content is deleted within 30 days, except where we must keep records longer.
• Billing records are kept for six years to meet UK tax and accounting law.
• Security and error logs are kept for up to 90 days.

You can export, edit or delete your study content at any time from your account, and close your account from Settings. You also have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. Email legal@bitechnology.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

StudyPie is intended for students aged 13 and over. If you are under 18, please check with a parent, guardian or teacher before creating an account. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 and will delete such an account on notice.

We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in and session security, functional storage for interface preferences, and consent-based analytics — see our Cookie Policy for detail. If this policy changes materially we will email account holders and update the date at the top of this page.
